ABOUT

Hi, my name is Morné. I'm a software developer and the person behind Lunchtime Lingo. A few years ago I moved to a new country and had to learn a new language. Not in a classroom, but in real life situations. At work around the lunch table, at the bank, in conversations I wasn't prepared for. I quickly discovered that the fastest way to get comfortable wasn't grammar drills or flashcard apps — it was immersion. Listening carefully, watching how people expressed themselves, picking up meaning from context, and gradually finding the confidence to join in.

Lunchtime Lingo is inspired by that experience. I built it for people who are moving to a new country, or who have already made the move, and want to feel genuinely prepared for the conversations that matter — not just the ones in a textbook.

WHAT IS LUNCHTIME LINGO?

Lunchtime Lingo puts you in realistic scenarios with AI-powered characters who speak the language you're learning. Think a conversation with an estate agent, a visit to the bank, or your first lunch with colleagues. You choose your language, your level, and how long you have — then chat your way through a real-life scenario. Along the way you get real-time corrections, on-demand translations, and a personal vocabulary list you build on over time.

THE GOAL

To make language practice something you actually do, not something you keep meaning to do. Short sessions, real conversations, and the confidence to handle whatever your new country throws at you.
